The genesis of Multifab Metals Engineering Ltd can be traced back to a meeting in July 2000 when Stephen & Adrian Crowson and Franc D'Agnano recognised a market niche for a quality sheet metal engineering facility in the Greater Peterborough area.
Within 6 months the firm had secured 2,000 sq ft of leased property and had acquired basic sheet metal working machinery with the self-financing startup funds available. Just over a year after commencing trading Multifab took on its first full-time employee as well as the original partners switching from part to full time.
An effective advertising & awareness campaign, allied to a growing reputation for delivering quality product on time and on budget, emphasised the need to provide customers with additional sophistication in finished products. The result was further investment - this time in the leading edge technology of CNC/Plasma cutting machinery - in April 2002. An adjoining industrial unit at their old site in Fengate, offering a further 2,000 sq ft of space, was leased to house the expansion.
Multifab became a Limited Company in September 2003 and has continued it's rapid growth ever since. It was runner up in the Greater Peterborough Small Business of the Year Awards in 2004 and went one better in 2005 winning the category outright.
The 3 directors and 7 staff moved into new premises in September 2005. Comprising some 16,000 sq ft the new site is located in Newark Road, Fengate and allows for continued expansion of their core services - bespoke / one-off work which makes use of their expertise in AutoCAD and CNCPlasma profiling. Currently the company employs 15 staff (April 2007).
The client base is both diverse and increasing year on year. It covers the industrial, commercial, food hygiene and domestic sectors. Multifab Metals Engineering's 'pro-active' approach to contract acquisition and completion has attracted and sustained a core customer list. |
